2019 Report

House Report

There was not much to report about the house in 2019. Corey Payne visited the house with friends in September.

Amy was there in the spring and met second cousin on the Jennings side, Tom Jennings. It turns out that Tom owns the part of the original Jennings land that was inherited by Anderson “Zan” Jennings. Zan was the father of A and her brother whom we have all heard of as “Uncle Bee.”

The Jennings homestead burned down, but Tom showed Amy the spot where the house stood. This is where A Jennings Payne grew up.

This land lies on the right side of Mabetown Road as you are driving from Lone Mountain to Tazewell. The stand of trees near the center of the photo (highlighted yellow) is where the house once stood. Ball Creek runs across what was the “front yard” of the home. This is where A Jennings Payne grew up. The house was last owned by the heirs of her brother, William Bibby Jennings. (Uncle Bee)
