It was a busy year at our Lone Mountain House, with several visits by Margaret Schneider and her daughter, Shannon. Margaret did a lot of work in and around the house. She also reported a small fire out back that was caused by a transformer. She may have saved the house by being there at that moment!
(Clarence > Peggy Chumley > Margaret > Shannon)
Judy and Rufus Breckenridge stopped by to see Margaret en route to getting their boat at nearby Norris Landing.
(Byrd and A Payne > Irene > Kathryn Watts > Judy)
Also visiting a few times was Ann Rose with a group of her friends. Joining them at various times were David Rose and Mary Kay Stark. Matt and Laura Torres, and Anna Lacke. Amy Potts also visited in September.
(Byrd and A Payne > Sally Rose Turner > David Rose > Ann Rose)
(Byrd and A Payne > Roger > Amy (Lacke) Potts > Anna Lacke)
(Byrd and A Payne > Roger > Amy (Lacke) Potts > Laura (Lacke) Torres)
On one of Ann’s visits, she and Anna Lacke did a lot of work upstairs, replacing old linens and pillows, etc. They also did a big clean-up in the storage area in the bath house, as well.
Drew and Heather Westphal, as well as seven of their nine children, spent Thanksgiving at Lone Mountain.
(Byrd and A Payne > Anne Kite > Linda Westphal > Drew > AJ, Kenneth, Hannah, Eva, Robert, Hjalmar, and Leo)
Our next-door neighbor and cousin, Bruce Meyers, reported a water leak in the bathhouse. Bruce is related to us through his great-grandfather Robert Payne.
Robert Payne (Byrd Payne brother) > Ethel Greer > Joanne Meyers > Bruce Meyers)
Our maintenance supervisor, Dale Brogan, came to the rescue and fixed the leak. He also installed a new toilet in the house bathroom. Later in the year, he added skirting around the house and did an attractive reinforcement of the dining room ceiling.
Those of us who have been watching and worrying about the widening cracks on the front porch, will be happy to know, Ann’s good friend, Marie Laliberte, fixed them. We are grateful!
